Thanks to everyone who played at the Blockley February 9th. We had a most excellent time sharing the evening with The Sea Around Us and The Horrible Department. Thanks to Colin Casia for recording some of the set. The Horrible Department will also be joining Lion Versus at the CD release of our new album FIVE HEARTS April 16th. This is going to be an epic evening of audio performances and visual extravagance. Join us in celebrating music…

Live Recording of Mandolin intro at The Blockley Pourhouse

On Wednesday January 12th Lion Versus played at North Star Bar with Black Horse Motel and The Sea Around Us. Black Horse Motel is a band full of impressive harmonies and old time sound with an indie rock kick. A great concoction, we enjoyed hearing them live. Also added to the bill was The Sea Around Us. Their flamenco, and  jazz influenced melodies meshed together wonderfully. Their rock was never just “noise” every note is purposeful while still being aggressive and experimental at times. Check them out.

Next in line Lion Versus will hit up the Blockley Pourhouse Wednesday February 9th.  Hope to see you there.

…Thanks to Chris Rossello for starting the night off right. We are all looking forward to his new album to be released soon. Great lyricist and melody maker. We followed it up and had a great time, we introduced some new elements to the set including some marching drums in preparation for what is to come for our CD release party in the Spring (oh, yes it’s happening)…Boom Chick from Brooklyn is definitely one band that you need to check out. Raw rock n roll with a bluesy, surf party twist. Guitar wonder Frank Hoier, and back up screamer/drummer extraordinaire, Moselle Spiller. Their release debut Show Pony is out now. Be sure to pick up a copy. We hope to have them back this way soon.

Last played the Casey Bowen Band from NJ. These guys played their hearts out. I had the chance to talk with them after their set and they said it was their 3rd show. Wow. Super tight so early in their formation. We wish them all the best and look forward to the direction their sound moves towards….

Up next for Lion Versus, North Star Bar January 12th. We will be going on last that evening so we hope to see you all out there because we are playing with some great bands including Black Horse Motel, The Fallen Troubadours, and Philadelphia new comers City Slides.

This past Saturday November 27th Lion Versus headed over to Baltimore to play the Golden West Cafe Songwriter Sessions put on by A Cat Called Cricket’s own Alex Champagne. Thanks to everyone who listened and performed. We had a a great time and hope to be back there soon!

WORLD CAFE LIVE 1.23.10

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Lion Versus at World Cafe Live this past Tuesday (November 23). We had a great time performing for everyone as well as hearing Crills Wilson, and When I Was 12 play their wonderful music! We head out to Baltimore tomorrow (November 27) to play at The Golden West Cafe.

Thanks to Katie Becker and Drew Shipe of the Liberti Arts Collective for putting together a great house show this past Saturday night as well as to all the visual and performance artists who took part in this event. We had a great time playing for everyone who came out and looked/listened.

Also this past Wednesday Lion Versus headed out to the newly renovated Grape Room (formerly Grape Street Pub) in Manayunk. If you haven’t checked it out yet this is a great venue to see live music seven days a week. Joining us were some rockin’ (literally) acts such as  was The Glorious Veins (Brooklyn) The Violet Tone,  Goodman Brown, and last but definitely not least Brenn (Nashville), check these guys out. Powerful sound, and on tour now.

Lion Versus heads out to World Cafe Live for our next show with When I was 12 and Crills Wilson Tuesday night November 23rd.  Show starts at 8pm.
